Patty Suphajit Vuntanadit
Suphajit (Patty) Vuntanadit is an international dressage rider from Thailand, currently based in Belgium with her sister, Suphakamol (Pam) Vuntanadit. Patty’s journey with horses began at the age of three, and that passion has shaped her life ever since. Her competitive riding career started at the age of nine when she won first place in the Thailand Pony Championships in 2012, marking the beginning of an incredible adventure. That same year, she welcomed her first horse, Antonio 97, who became not just a competitive partner but also a true friend throughout her riding journey.
Following her victory in the national Pony Championships, Patty began to take her riding more seriously, gradually setting higher ambitions in the sport. With Antonio 97, she started competing at national and regional levels in Thailand. In 2016, she took a significant step forward by moving to the Netherlands with her sister and their horses to further her education and riding career. Patty graduated with First Honours in Politics from King’s College London in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health at University College, London.
In 2021, while balancing her studies, Patty began competing internationally. Her debut at CDI Le Mans with Antonio 97 in the Young Riders class was a dream come true. Together, they progressed from the M-level, defying the doubts of others and achieving their ultimate goal. Finishing the Young Riders team test with Antonio was one of the most emotional moments of her life—a testament to the deep bond they had formed. This connection reflects her strong commitment to horse welfare, as she dedicates every spare moment to ensuring her horses are happy and healthy.
In addition to her work with Antonio, Patty also debuted her new partner, Wall Street JV, in the CDI1* class. Shortly after, she was selected as one of six young, upcoming riders to participate in the CHIO Aachen Campus Programme of Excellence, which is a significant achievement as she is the only representative from Asia in the programme so far. The highlight of her career came when she won the CDI1* Freestyle to Music classes for two consecutive weeks at the 2023 Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. This moment was especially meaningful, as Patty and her sister crafted the choreography together, incorporating sounds from traditional Thai instruments and songs to honor their heritage. Hearing the Thai anthem play while her flag was raised, atop her heart horse Wall Street JV, was a humbling and unforgettable experience.
Patty is proud to have made history in Thai dressage as the first rider to win first place in a CDI. By April 2023, she was ranked 15th in the CDI1* World Rankings, standing out as the only Asian rider in the top 15 at the time. As she steps into Grand Prix competition, her sights are set on the prestigious 2026 World Equestrian Games in Aachen. With Wall Street JV by her side, she hopes that she and her sister, Pam, will achieve a historic milestone for Thai dressage, celebrating their shared dedication and hard work.
