ERIN MCCOY
BIOGRAPHY
My name is Erin McCoy and I’m an 18 year old international dressage rider for Ireland. I am based on the shores of Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland and have a beautiful private yard for myself and my families horses. I am currently competing at Junior FEI level and training Prix St George in hope to make my young rider debut soon.
My Junior international horse is called Bjornsun or Thomas is his stable name. Thomas is a successful dressage horse at junior fei level and previously competed at small tour level. He is a 17hh Dutch warmblood by Johnson. I was given the amazing opportunity to loan Thomas at the beginning of 2023 and was very lucky to buy him in May of 2024, prior to our international debut.
This year myself and Thomas competed internationally for the very first time at Hickstead CDI. We also competed In Wellington CDI and travelled to France for Jardy CDI. Whilst riding horses I also play hockey competitively. I am playing for Ards Hockey club, which are a very successful ladies Hockey club in Ireland. I have had multiple successes in hockey including winning the McDowell Cup with my school team in 2023, playing for Ulster u16s in 2022 and training for Ulster u17.
I am currently still in school and studying my A levels. I study biology, Sports Science and Business Studies. Last year I received 7 A and A* grades in my GCSEs. I hope to receive good A level results and continue my studies at university.
In the summer of 2024, I have been based in Germany at Krüsterhof Hinnemann, training with Irish Olympian, Judy Reynolds.
