BIOGRAPHY

Svenja Grimm was born in Germany and resides in Chile. She has been riding since she was very young and competed successfully up to Junior Level in Germany. She participated in the German Championships for Juniors in 2006 and 2007. From 2009 to 2010, she took a gap year as a working student, riding horses at Leatherdale Farms in the USA and Rivendell Stud in South Africa.

She then studied International Business and Language in University of Amsterdam from 2010 to 2014 and in 2013 did an exchange semester in Chile. Svenja decided to return for job opportunities to Chile after finishing university in 2014.

While working in Chile, she met her trainer and partner Mario Vargas; also an International dressage rider. Together they started to make plans together and invested in young horses to train for the future. Svenja started to ride more seriously again and went back to participating in competitions. More and more riding became her focus and in 2018, she decided to leave her job in Export Management in order to fully concentrate on riding.

While running their own dressage stable in Chile, Svenja and Mario started to travel to Europe for the summer months with their strongest horses to compete. In 2021, she won the Pavo Cup for 6 year olds in the Netherlands and in 2022, she qualified for the Dutch team to the World breeding Young Dressage Horse Championchips finishing in the Top 20 and obtaining second place in the 4 year old class.

2023, Svenja obtained Chilean Sport Nationality in order to represent Chile in International competitions and then she represented Chile in the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile in October 2023, finishing 8th in the overall individual qualification. Svenja’s goal is to develop young horses successfully through the levels and represent Chile in International competitions with eyes firmly set on the Olympic Games of Los Angeles 2028.
